The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the Agency for Statistics of Bosnia and Herzegovina have signed a Memorandum of Cooperation on government finance statistics, aimed at improving the quality, reliability and international comparability of fiscal data and strengthening transparency of public finances. Under the memorandum, the two institutions will contribute within their respective mandates to developing and improving government finance statistics and the Excessive Deficit Procedure, in line with European Union methodology and the principles of the European Statistics Code of Practice. The Central Bank’s governor and the statistics agency’s director linked the cooperation to more accurate reporting, stronger trust in official public finance statistics and support for meeting international and European fiscal transparency criteria. The memorandum is positioned as part of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s economic dialogue and cooperation with the European Commission and Eurostat.
