The Central Bank of the Dominican Republic received Dominican Republic Ambassador to Spain Tony Raful and a group of Dominican-Spanish students recognised in the 15th edition of the Dominican Embassy in Spain’s School Merit Awards, using the meeting to outline the central bank’s role in macroeconomic and financial stability. The students, aged 10 to 17 and of Dominican nationality or origin, were selected by the embassy based on academic results and civic behaviour. Governor Héctor Valdez Albizu highlighted diaspora students’ academic performance and described the Embassy’s broader community initiatives, while also providing an overview of the Dominican economy and the functions of the Central Bank and the Monetary Board, including the implementation of an inflation-targeting framework, support for the sound functioning of the financial system, an efficient and secure payments system, and maintaining reserve buffers for periods of stress.
