Thailand's Office of Insurance Commission (OIC) and the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) have agreed to cooperate on a feasibility study to design insurance arrangements for Bangkok personnel performing high-risk frontline duties, alongside community volunteers and wider community groups. The work will consider coverage for roles including municipal officers, sewer and drainage maintenance staff, disaster prevention and mitigation personnel, and rescue and emergency responders. The OIC and BMA plan to jointly develop an operational framework covering areas such as insurance for government and private assets used in service delivery, group insurance for communities and vulnerable groups, and an assessment of legal requirements and protection measures to support appropriate implementation. Both organisations signalled ongoing coordination as the framework and insurance design are developed.
