The Central Bank of Seychelles published a press communiqué on its co-hosting of three Alliance for Financial Inclusion (AFI) working group meetings covering financial inclusion data and impact, inclusive green finance, and SME finance. The sessions, held in Seychelles from 22 to 25 April 2025, brought together 131 participants from 59 countries to support peer-to-peer learning and the sharing of strategies and best practices. The programme combined structured discussions and case studies focused on practical challenges and solutions to advance financial inclusion, climate-related finance objectives, and MSME access to finance across AFI member jurisdictions, with central banks forming a significant part of the participating institutions. In opening remarks, CBS First Deputy Governor Brian Commettant linked SME finance, green finance and inclusion data to building inclusive and sustainable financial systems, and referenced Seychelles’ progress in credit facilities and capacity building for NGOs, MSMEs and households, including work on inclusive green and blue finance. AFI’s Director of Policy Programs and Implementation, Dr Eliki Boletawa, highlighted the network’s emphasis on climate resilience for MSMEs and positioned the joint focus of the three working groups as central to AFI’s agenda.
