The Hong Kong Monetary Authority (HKMA) published the full music video for its new anti-fraud song “Confronting Lachachu” as part of its 2026 anti-fraud public education campaign, using an entertainment-led format to reinforce fraud-prevention messages. Produced with artificial intelligence technology and styled around a kung fu game concept, the video features HKMA Deputy Chief Executive Arthur Yuen as a game character confronting the recurring fraudster figure “Lachachu”, which cycles through identities including ticket scalper, customer service representative, courier and dating partner. The HKMA highlighted three “golden rules” for prevention: do not click suspicious links, never pay an advance fee for a reward, and do not transfer money or share personal information in online romances. It also cited Hong Kong Police Force data showing 43,212 fraud cases in 2025, a 2.9% drop from 2024 and the first decline since 2019. Separately, the HKMA said its public education approach has been recognised with the Central Banking Awards 2026 “Communications Initiative” for initiatives including the anti-fraud song “Don’t Click Links Indiscriminately” and community promotions featuring “Lachachu”. The full version of “Confronting Lachachu” is available on the HKMA’s official social media platforms.
