The Central Reserve Bank of Peru published new trade figures showing a sharp rise in non-traditional fisheries exports and continued growth in non-traditional agricultural exports in January 2026. Non-traditional fisheries exports reached USD 168 million, up 118.5% year on year, while non-traditional agricultural exports totalled USD 1,185 million, up 5.3%. Fisheries export growth was driven by a 150% increase in exported volume linked to greater availability of pota biomass, with shipments of frozen and canned pota 26 times and 15 times higher than a year earlier. Exports of frozen fish rose 285%, shrimp 34.6%, and scallops 32.5%, while the average export price fell 12.6% year on year amid increased supply of Peruvian pota. In agriculture, export volume increased 10.4%, supported by higher shipments of blueberries (up 14.3%, at the end of the season), avocados (up 49.2%, at the start of the season), shrimp feed (up 39.7%) and cocoa-based manufactures including cocoa powder (up 16%), chocolates (up 237%) and non-defatted cocoa paste (up 61.1%).
