The Italian Institute for Insurance Supervision (IVASS) issued an alert after receiving a report of a counterfeit surety bond policy made out to Croatia Osiguranje d.d., which the insurer has disowned. The falsified document includes the PEC address croatiaosiguranje@namirialpec.it, which is not connected to the company, and Croatia’s supervisor, the Croatian Financial Services Supervisory Agency (HANFA), also flagged that info@crosing.hr is not attributable to the undertaking. Croatia Osiguranje d.d. is a Croatia-based insurer supervised by HANFA and authorised to operate in Italy under the freedom to provide services in non-life business (including class 15, suretyship) and in life class I. IVASS noted it had already warned on 28 March 2025 about an attempt to market a counterfeit surety policy in the company’s name and the presence of an irregular website not referable to the undertaking, and reiterated that consumers should verify insurers and intermediaries via IVASS’s official registers, authorised lists and published warnings on counterfeiting and non-compliant websites.
