The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP), represented by accounting and technical provisions regulation coordinator Gabriel Caldas, participated in events in Brasília organised by the Federal Accounting Council focused on governance and Brazil’s convergence with international accounting and auditing standards. In a regulators’ panel, SUSEP framed its work as ongoing technical monitoring of international accounting developments relevant to the insurance sector, with particular attention to IFRS 17. Across the 11–12 March programme, Caldas joined the Strategic Planning and Governance Seminar of the CFC and Regional Accounting Councils system within the Brazil PAO Summit 2026 and attended the inauguration of the CFC’s 2026–2027 leadership. At the 12 March regulators’ panel, discussions covered challenges of regulatory harmonisation and the role of accounting in financial transparency. Caldas noted that Brazil has already incorporated the main international accounting standards into its regulatory framework, while IFRS 17 remains under continuous technical follow-up, with SUSEP studying elements that could be compatible with the national framework and do not conflict with international prudential supervisory references for the sector, especially those associated with Solvency II.
