At the Macedonian Stock Exchange’s 24th annual conference in Ohrid, the Securities and Exchange Commission of the Republic of North Macedonia’s chair, Bujaré Abazi, set out priorities for a more developed, competitive and integrated capital market aligned with Europe, and announced a programme of specialised workshops for market participants. EU regulatory harmonisation was presented as a key condition for closer linkage to European markets, with the Commission having participated in preparing amendments to the Financial Instruments Act and the Law on Prospectuses and Transparency Obligations for Securities Issuers, including provisions granting market participants additional time to comply. The address also highlighted digitalisation and regional market integration as an inevitable process to create synergies and new investment opportunities, with initial meetings already held with regulators from multiple Central and Southeast European countries. The workshops are scheduled for November in Skopje, organised in cooperation with the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development and under the auspices of the Luxembourg Ministry of Finance, and are aimed at market participants, listed companies and other stakeholders.
