The Central Bank of the Republic of Kosovo reported that Governor Ahmet Ismaili participated in a World Bank high-level morning session held during the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Annual Meetings on boosting productivity in Europe and Central Asia. The discussion centred on the World Bank’s regional productivity study and policy priorities, including strengthening trade and investment and accelerating digitalisation and technology adoption. In remarks focused on technology adoption and digitalisation, Ismaili pointed to Kosovo’s young population and dynamic information and communications technology sector as potential drivers of productivity gains, and noted opportunities arising from rapid advances in artificial intelligence and digital tools. He also underlined the need to support small and medium-sized enterprises in addressing barriers to adopting new technologies, including financing, skills and infrastructure, and highlighted targeted measures to promote digital skills, e-commerce and access to digital finance, alongside an inclusive approach to digital transformation in the financial sector supported by investment in digital skills and digital public services.
