The Financial Supervisory Authority of Norway has warned about several fraud cases in which its name and employees were misused in connection with supposed loan transactions between group companies. The cases identified so far involve transactions between Norwegian companies and foreign subsidiaries. It stressed that it does not participate in, approve or facilitate loan agreements between private companies or intra group companies, so any claim that it is involved is misleading. In the cases described, fraudsters have either posed as representatives of the authority or referred to fictitious involvement by it to create trust in transactions that were in fact attempted scams. Businesses and individuals receiving this type of approach were urged to exercise particular caution and verify information through official contact points. The authority also referred to earlier warnings about misuse of its logo, address and organisation number.
