The European Payments Council (EPC) has opened a public consultation on how it can best support and facilitate the use of SEPA Instant Credit Transfer (SCT Inst) at the point of interaction (POI). The exercise is framed by the Instant Payments Regulation, which will bring the large majority of payment service providers across the European Economic Area into the SCT Inst scheme by July 2027, and is intended to inform how SCT Inst could be used for POI payment solutions and related use cases. Input is sought from stakeholders that want to use, offer, develop and/or operate SCT Inst scheme-based POI solutions, including requirements, suggestions and issues they encounter. Responses are due by 30 May 2025 (midnight Brussels time) using the EPC 129-25 response form. The EPC plans to provide individual feedback to contributors by end-October 2025 at the latest and, depending on responses, may organise a dedicated workshop or similar forum with stakeholder representatives to explore findings and discuss potential facilitating actions.
