The European Central Bank published the weekly financial statement, reporting total assets and total liabilities of EUR 6,083,487 million, an increase of EUR 1,478 million compared with the previous week due to transactions. On the asset side, securities of euro area residents denominated in euro fell by EUR 3,574 million to EUR 4,198,323 million, driven by a EUR 4,260 million decline in securities held for monetary policy purposes to EUR 3,898,541 million, partly offset by a EUR 687 million rise in other securities to EUR 299,782 million. Claims on non-euro area residents denominated in foreign currency increased by EUR 2,484 million to EUR 494,440 million, while lending to euro area credit institutions related to monetary policy operations rose by EUR 153 million to EUR 19,751 million, reflecting higher main refinancing operations. On the liability side, the deposit facility decreased by EUR 51,554 million to EUR 2,605,313 million, while current accounts (covering the minimum reserve system) increased by EUR 50,257 million to EUR 211,128 million; banknotes in circulation declined by EUR 709 million to EUR 1,590,332 million.
