The National Bank of Moldova reported that Governor Anca Dragu met with the US Embassy in Chisinau’s Chargé d’Affaires Nick Pietrowicz and economic officer Andrew Freeman to discuss international cooperation aimed at strengthening financial institutions and promoting good practices in banking governance, framed as supportive of US investment in Moldova. The dialogue also covered macroeconomic developments and the need to continue banking-sector reforms as Moldova aligns its banking framework with European standards. The central bank noted that Moldova is expected to become an operational participant in the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA) within a few days, which it linked to deeper European financial integration and faster, safer cross-border payments. Dragu also emphasised knowledge-sharing as a means to help the National Bank of Moldova address technological challenges, reinforce public trust in the banking system, and advance a modern financial framework aligned with the EU acquis.
