National Bank of Georgia President Natia Turnava summarised a one-week visit to Washington held alongside the International Monetary Fund and World Bank Spring Meetings, highlighting high-level discussions on Georgia’s economic situation and a focus on strengthening regional cooperation and connectivity. The Georgian delegation, which included Finance Minister Lasha Khutsishvili, met IMF Deputy Managing Director Bo Li, Middle East and Central Asia Department Director Jihad Azour and IMF executive and alternate directors, with discussions covering regional cooperation and the role of the Middle Corridor amid geopolitical developments involving Iran. Investor outreach included meetings hosted with J.P. Morgan and Bank of America involving representatives of more than 20 global investment groups from the United States, Europe and Asia, and Turnava also held bilateral talks with Central Bank of the United Arab Emirates Governor Khaled Mohamed Balama on future cooperation between the two central banks.
