The National Bank of Moldova hosted a high-level meeting with an official delegation from Slovenia, led by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Tanja Fajon, to discuss stronger bilateral cooperation and Moldova’s alignment with European Union standards in the context of Moldova’s recent acceptance into the Single Euro Payments Area (SEPA). Discussions covered lessons from Slovenia’s transition and harmonisation with EU rules, including in economic governance, digitalisation and international financial connectivity. Governor Anca Dragu highlighted the role of institutional exchanges and best-practice sharing, and the agenda also included Slovenian government support through the Center of Excellence in Finance (CEF) under the #NBM LearnOrgLab project, which aims to strengthen institutional capabilities in professional development and knowledge transfer; the National Bank of Moldova is the first institution in the region to benefit. The central bank positioned the visit as part of its broader approach to expanding international dialogue with European institutions to support reform implementation and integration into European financial systems.
