The Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan has concluded the first International Capital Market Conference & Expo 2025, with participating jurisdictions reaffirming their intent to advance capital market cooperation, strengthen market linkages, and expand knowledge exchange. Hosted with Capital Market Infrastructure Institutions, the two-day event brought together regulators, policymakers, academics, and market practitioners from Azerbaijan, Bangladesh, China, Iran, and the United States alongside domestic stakeholders. The agenda covered regional capital market development themes including integration, digitisation, commodities markets, and pension reforms, and included a gong ceremony at the Pakistan Stock Exchange to mark collaboration among participating countries. A high-level panel on Islamic finance highlighted the need for legislative reforms, capacity building, and harmonised Shariah screening frameworks, as well as greater retail investor participation and awareness of ethical investment options. The programme also featured a presentation on Real Estate Investment Trusts in Pakistan and the SECP’s role in building an enabling regulatory framework, followed by a keynote address by Ayatollah Dr. Gholamreza Mesbahi Moghaddam, Chair of the Shariah Committee of Iran, on Islamic finance and regional cooperation.
