The National Bank of Georgia reported that Natia Turnava participated in a World Bank-organised discussion of female central bank leaders during the Spring Meetings in the United States, focused on improving women’s participation in entrepreneurship and access to finance. Turnava highlighted that the National Bank of Georgia has revised its Corporate Governance Code to increase gender quotas on the supervisory boards of commercial banks and microbanks. The session also included Georgia’s Deputy Minister of Finance Ekaterine Guntsadze and covered measures such as credit guarantee schemes, improved access to electronic payment systems and capital co-financing mechanisms. Participants also reviewed a World Bank-initiated programme aimed at improving access to finance for women entrepreneurs.

The National Bank of Georgia reported that Acting Governor Natia Turnava joined a World Bank Spring Meetings panel of female central bank leaders on improving women’s participation in entrepreneurship and access to finance, noting the bank’s revision of its Corporate Governance Code to increase gender quotas on supervisory boards of commercial banks and microbanks. The session, which also featured Deputy Finance Minister Ekaterine Guntsadze, discussed credit guarantee schemes, better access to electronic payment systems, capital co-financing mechanisms and a World Bank programme to improve finance for women entrepreneurs.
