The Zimbabwe Insurance and Pensions Commission (IPEC) held a Board and Management Integrity Sensitisation and Integrity Pledge Signing Ceremony in Harare, facilitated by the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission (ZACC), to reinforce ethical governance and transparency in its oversight of the insurance and pensions industry. IPEC Board Chairperson Albert Nduna framed the pledge as a practical commitment to uphold high ethical standards in day-to-day regulatory decision-making. ZACC Chairperson Michael Reza highlighted common corruption and fraud channels in the insurance sector, including fraudulent claims, collusion between clients and employees, and exaggerated damages, and linked these to higher insurance costs and the denial of legitimate claims. Reza also pledged strengthened collaboration with IPEC and the Zimbabwe Insurance Crimes Bureau in investigating and preventing fraudulent activity, and called for active board support and oversight of organisational integrity committees.
