The Thailand Office of Insurance Commission held its 2026 annual arbitration seminar for more than 100 arbitrators, executives and officials to strengthen health insurance expertise and make insurance dispute assessments and awards clearer, fairer and more consistent. The event follows earlier regional work on operational arbitration issues and the escalation of unresolved cases to insurers’ internal complaint units. Training covered health policy terms, coverage, exclusions and related rules amid rising medical costs, while case study workshops allowed arbitrators to align their treatment of disputes with the facts, law and insurance contract. Under the Fifth Insurance Development Plan, the commission is also using complaint and dispute data to improve supervisory rules and preventive consumer protection, supported by service level agreements and stronger insurer complaint units that review claims decisions before they develop into formal disputes.
