The National Bank of the Republic of Tajikistan reported that its chairman, Firdavs Nazrimat Tolibzoda, participated in a meeting between First Deputy Prime Minister Hokim Holiqzoda and newly appointed International Monetary Fund (IMF) Resident Representative Ghazi Shbaykat, focused on cooperation under IMF-supported reform programmes, including the Policy Coordination Instrument (PCI). The Tajik side emphasised that having a permanent IMF representative in the country should support continuous dialogue and more timely policy decisions, and highlighted the PCI’s role in advancing structural reforms, strengthening monetary and credit policy, and increasing fiscal transparency. It also noted that Tajikistan has successfully completed two review stages under the PCI, and reiterated its intention to continue reforms in areas including the investment climate, economic digitisation, financial inclusion, and sustainable energy, alongside discussion of climate-related reforms and the use of available financial instruments to support green initiatives.
