The Central Bank of Curaçao and Sint Maarten issued a response to reports that counterfeit Caribbean guilder 20-guilder banknotes may be circulating, stating that neither the Bank nor the police have received any of the notes and it therefore cannot confirm whether counterfeits exist. It assessed the likelihood of counterfeit notes entering circulation as low and advised the public to remain vigilant. The Bank highlighted that Caribbean guilder banknotes include state-of-the-art security features designed to make counterfeiting extremely difficult. It encouraged the public to learn these security features and report any suspected counterfeit notes to the police or the Central Bank, and noted that guidance on identifying genuine banknotes is available via the Caribbean guilder website and the My Caribbean Guilder app.
