The Central Bank of Mongolia presented its experience conducting a climate scenario analysis for Mongolia’s banking sector at the Asia–Pacific Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) Clinic held in Bangkok on 10–11 September 2025. The presentation, “A Climate Scenario Analysis for the Banking Sector in Mongolia,” set out the central bank’s approach to using forward-looking scenarios to assess climate-related financial vulnerabilities. Delivered by Ms. Urgamalsuvd Nanjid, Division Head in the Monetary Policy Department, the session covered a bottom-up climate scenario analysis developed with UNESCAP under the Readiness Support for Greening the Bank of Mongolia project, supported by the NDC Partnership since 2023. The clinic, jointly organized by the NDC Partnership, GIZ, UNEP, UNDP and UNESCAP with the UNFCCC secretariat, convened government ministries and financial institutions to exchange views on NDC implementation, financing strategies and inter-ministerial coordination, with the Bank of Mongolia’s contribution highlighting the role of financial regulators in aligning monetary and prudential policies with national climate priorities and the Paris Agreement goals.
