The Central Bank of Chile held the fifth edition of its “Women in Economics and Finance” roundtable, an event launched in 2021 for university students in economics- and finance-related programmes across the country as part of Women’s Month, and framed this year within the central bank’s 100-year commemoration. The event featured two panels. The first was moderated by Central Bank of Chile President Rosanna Costa, with participation from Susana Jiménez, President of the Confederation of Production and Commerce, and Andrea Repetto, Director of the School of Government at the Pontifical Catholic University of Chile. The second panel was led by Ricardo Consiglio, Manager of the Financial Markets Division, and included Central Bank of Chile economists Paulina Rodríguez, María José Meléndez, Andrea Mostajo and Jennifer Peña. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde sent an opening greeting highlighting the initiative and the importance of advancing women’s integration in STEM fields. The roundtable was held at the central bank’s headquarters, with 130 students attending in person and more than 400 people connected via the institutional YouTube stream.
