The Central Bank of West African States (BCEAO) inaugurated a new building for its auxiliary agency in Bobo-Dioulasso, Burkina Faso, positioning the project within its programme to extend and modernise the BCEAO agency network. The expansion programme, adopted by the BCEAO Board of Directors in 2014, is intended to strengthen the agency’s capacity to meet rising demand related to currency in circulation, including the issuance of banknotes and coins, and to support the development of banking networks within member states. The BCEAO highlighted Bobo-Dioulasso’s strategic role and the agency’s coverage of a dynamic area with numerous banks and microfinance institutions. The building was designed to modern energy-efficiency and sustainability standards, including solar panels and high-efficiency air-conditioning systems, with infrastructure elements inspired by Burkina Faso’s architectural heritage.
