The Central Bank of San Marino’s Head of International Relations delivered seminars at the University of Bologna and the University of Milan on 6 and 25 March on how central banks and supervisory authorities are responding to climate change. The sessions introduced the main features of San Marino’s financial system and central bank, as well as the country’s path toward European integration, before focusing on the Network for Greening the Financial System (NGFS). The presentations described the NGFS as an association of 144 central banks and supervisory authorities, including the Central Bank of San Marino, that shares best practices for managing climate-related risks and mobilises resources to support the transition to a sustainable economy. The seminars were positioned as part of the central bank’s institutional communication strategy to increase awareness of its role, the banking and financial sector, and the growing European integration of San Marino, while improving understanding of climate change impacts in line with NGFS and Central Bank of San Marino objectives.
