Qatar Central Bank announced that the national payment card HIMYAN is now accepted in the Kingdom of Bahrain. Cardholders can use the card for purchase and cash withdrawal transactions at points of sale and ATMs in Bahrain, extending the card’s cross-border use as part of the central bank’s digital payments agenda under the Third Financial Sector Strategy and its broader work on GCC payment system integration. The announcement states that HIMYAN transactions in Bahrain will operate in line with high security and protection standards. Qatar Central Bank also noted that HIMYAN cardholders can already use the card in the State of Kuwait following its 18 December 2025 announcement, and described HIMYAN as the first national payment card launched under a Qatari brand.
