The Rwanda Capital Markets Authority hosted a webinar with Rwanda National Investment Trust, BK Capital and BCP Investment Managers to educate investors on collective investment schemes (CIS) and to highlight recent growth in Rwanda’s licensed CIS market. The session positioned CIS as an accessible route into capital markets through pooled, professionally managed and diversified portfolios. Rwanda currently has two licensed CIS, the RNIT Iterambere Fund and the BKC Aguka Fund. By end-December 2024, the two funds’ combined assets under management rose to RWF 67.49 billion with 34,465 unit holders, compared with RWF 64 billion and 28,895 unit holders in June 2024. Speakers also pointed to product accessibility and performance indicators, including RNIT Iterambere Fund’s expansion from RWF 3 billion at launch in 2016 to over RWF 45 billion, a minimum entry amount of RWF 2,000, and an increase in net asset value per unit from RWF 1,000 to RWF 1,238, described as an annual net return of about 11.78%. Participants encouraged further market development, including introducing additional schemes and investment products, and investing in technology; RNIT Iterambere Fund indicated plans to launch more schemes, while the Rwanda Stock Exchange’s CEO encouraged BK Capital to consider listing on the exchange for visibility.
