At the Impact SEE regional conference, National Bank of Moldova Governor Anca Dragu reviewed Moldova’s progress in strengthening its banking sector, aligning financial services with European standards and using monetary policy to maintain price stability. She emphasized that European integration is already producing practical benefits before EU accession through stronger financial institutions, faster transfers and lower costs. Banks maintain high capitalization and liquidity, while recent credit growth reflects their role in financing the economy. Dragu also reiterated that the Single Euro Payments Area processed about 1.1 million transfers and generated estimated fee savings of nearly EUR 15 million in its first 11 months, while the MIA instant payment system surpassed 1 million users.
