Ukraine’s National Commission on Securities and Stock Market has provided an update on work to align Ukrainian corporate law with European Union standards during discussions on Oct. 22. Commission member Maksym Libanov presented the work at a meeting of the Ukraine-EU Association Committee’s subcommittee on economic and sectoral cooperation. Priorities include greater gender balance in company leadership, broader options for business reorganizations, including across national borders, and clearer corporate governance rules. The alignment work aims to strengthen shareholder protection and give investors more reliable company information. Corporate governance and shareholder rights also featured in the Commission’s Oct. 19 talks with the EU Delegation in Ukraine on legislative alignment under the EU accession chapters covering company law and financial services.
