South Korea's Ministry of Economy and Finance reported that its Export Plus Support Team had completed a network of regional export promotion councils with nine provincial governments following an Oct. 27 cooperation meeting with Jeonnam-Gwangju. The latest agreement establishes a standing channel to coordinate assistance and address local exporters' difficulties. Cooperation will support regional programs to diversify export destinations and develop promising export businesses. Alongside the meeting, an export finance briefing was scheduled for Oct. 27 in Gwangju to address companies' difficulties obtaining information about financing and accessing available programs. Policy finance institutions were scheduled to explain their export finance programs and provide individual consultations. A further briefing on Nov. 26 in Gwangju, organized jointly with the Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy's overseas certification support team, will address foreign technical regulations and certification requirements for food, cosmetics and chemicals. It will explain available assistance, including certification consulting and a technical regulation information portal, in response to recurring difficulties exporters face in obtaining certification.
