The National Bank of Moldova has started preparing amendments to the functional and technical requirements for interfaces used by account servicing payment service providers. The project is designed to implement the requirement that these interfaces comply with an open, common and secure communication standard set by international or European standardisation bodies, as reflected in requirements issued by the central bank, and to further develop Moldova's technical framework for open banking. The planned changes would add further functional developments, including provisions on access for legal persons and the inclusion of recurring payments. The initiative is linked to improving interoperability, efficiency and accessibility in digital financial services and to continued alignment with European practices and developments in this area. The National Bank of Moldova has requested opinions, proposals and recommendations by 16 June 2026.
