Argentina Securities Commission Chair Roberto Silva reviewed the regulator’s capital markets deregulation and modernization program, including automatic approval regimes and a recent broad regulatory overhaul. He said the measures simplify processes, reduce costs and improve access to financing while maintaining investor protection, transparency and market integrity. Silva highlighted recent requirements for Settlement and Clearing Agents covering reporting on financial liabilities, futures and options exposures, and foreign currency positions. The framework also establishes prudential indicators, a minimum liquidity ratio and a maximum computable leverage limit based on objective assessments of agents’ solvency and leverage. He also reviewed changes to the Restricted Persons and Primary Placement regimes, the reorganization of the regulatory framework and a revised enforcement policy, and referred to forthcoming regulation of Labor Assistance Funds.
