The Brazilian Superintendence of Private Insurance (SUSEP) approved the submission to the National Council of Private Insurance (CNSP) of draft regulations covering mutualist property protection operations, insurance cooperative companies and an updated administrative sanctions regime. Deliberation on a separate draft addressing insurance brokers and self-regulatory entities was not concluded following a request for further review. The draft texts had previously been put out for public consultation. The proposals on mutualist property protection and insurance cooperatives implement changes introduced by Complementary Law No. 213/2025, which expanded the sector’s scope of activities. The sanctions proposal would consolidate and update rules for supervisory proceedings and the application of penalties in line with the same law, while the broker and self-regulatory entity draft aims to consolidate previously dispersed requirements and update them for recent legislative changes. Final approval of the proposed norms rests with the CNSP.
