The Hong Kong Monetary Authority has published the next service schedule for its two Coin Carts, covering October 26, 2026, to January 3, 2027. Continuing the rotating service across Hong Kong’s 18 districts, the free Coin Collection Programme allows users to exchange coins for banknotes, add value to supported stored value facilities or donate coins to the Community Chest. Since the programme began in October 2014, the Coin Carts have completed 1.53 million transactions and collected 1.156 billion coins with a face value of HKD 1.879 billion as of August 31, 2026. The coins are recirculated to meet demand. Each cart normally remains at a location for one week and operates from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., subject to parking availability and maintenance.
