The National Bank of Georgia said Governor Natia Turnava met Pan Gongsheng, governor of China's central bank, in Shanghai to review economic and financial cooperation between Georgia and China. The discussions covered ongoing work in financial markets and financial services and the potential to deepen the partnership further. The meeting highlighted progress under the memorandum of understanding signed last year between the National Bank of Georgia and the People's Bank of China. Areas cited included steps to develop financial markets and bilateral financial services, as well as diversification of international reserves. The two sides also discussed broader Georgia-China trade and economic ties, with China described as one of Georgia's largest trading partners, and reaffirmed their readiness to continue active cooperation to strengthen financial and economic links.
