The Central Bank of Afghanistan met with the Association of Electronic Money and Payment Institutions of Afghanistan to review implementation of the government-approved strategy for expanding electronic payments and a decree on digital revenue collection. The discussions covered the shift from cash to electronic transactions, institutional responsibilities and the role of electronic money and payment institutions in extending services, including to areas without bank branches. An action plan has been developed under the strategy, with implementation steps expected to begin soon in coordination with electronic money and payment institutions.
