The European Banking Authority (EBA) has extended four public consultation deadlines after a precautionary website shutdown interrupted access. The affected consultations cover investment of deposit guarantee scheme funds, information exchange and depositor information, alongside the methodology for setting fines under the Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation (MiCA). The three deposit guarantee consultations were launched in July as part of the first batch of proposed rules implementing the revised Deposit Guarantee Schemes Directive. The shutdown followed a CERT-EU alert about two critical security flaws in software used by the EBA and other websites. The EBA took its website offline on 21 October 2026 to apply security updates and restored it on 22 October 2026. It reported that it had detected no breach and that no data had been compromised.
