South Korea's Financial Services Commission has opened consultation on a proposal to make aerospace and quantum industries eligible for National Growth Fund support. The proposed amendment to the Enforcement Decree of the Korea Development Bank Act follows the July 15 announcement that eligibility would expand beyond the existing 12 advanced strategic industries. The two additional sectors were selected following initial consultation with relevant ministries, reflecting their national strategic importance and need for substantial investment over long periods. The aerospace scope includes satellites, the lunar economy, launch vehicles and civil aircraft. Quantum activities include quantum computing, quantum cryptographic communications and quantum sensing. The amendment would broaden the eligible industry scope of the Advanced Strategic Industry Fund under the decree, extending the National Growth Fund's coverage to these sectors. The proposal remains subject to finalization through steps including Cabinet approval.
