National Bank of Georgia First Vice Governor Ekaterine Mikabadze discussed efforts to facilitate mutual capital market access between Georgia and the Astana International Financial Centre (AIFC) at AIFC Connect: Tbilisi 2026, held during the Tbilisi Financial Summit. The initiative seeks practical access mechanisms for financial institutions and other market participants. It builds on the bank’s Sept. 9, 2026, memorandum with the Astana Financial Services Authority, which provides for stronger supervisory cooperation and information sharing alongside market access arrangements that respect each jurisdiction’s legal and regulatory requirements. Mikabadze also highlighted the growing role of local currency financing in Georgia’s capital market. New public corporate bond issuance reached a record GEL 1.57 billion in 2025, with most bonds denominated in lari. Georgian government bond indices have also been published on international platforms, including Bloomberg, to improve the visibility and accessibility of Georgian securities for international investors.
