The Bank of Cape Verde held a kick-off workshop for the implementation phase of its Immediate and Inclusive Transfers System (STII) project, marking the first formal presentation of the initiative to the wider financial community. The event, organised with the AfricaNenda Foundation and experts from ThitsaWorks, brought together commercial banks, microfinance institutions, fintech firms, Sociedade Interbancária e Sistemas de Pagamento (SISP), telecom operators, and regulatory and supervisory bodies, alongside Bank of Cape Verde staff. The workshop reviewed work completed to date, from development of the system concept through to guidelines set out in Cabo Verde’s national STII implementation strategy, and introduced the Mojaloop open-source interoperable technology platform. Implementation is being delivered in partnership with the AfricaNenda Foundation under a memorandum of understanding signed at the end of 2023.
