The Bank of Albania, in cooperation with the European Investment Bank, presented the third and final draft of Albania’s National Green Taxonomy. The framework is designed to provide a common system for identifying and classifying economic activities that contribute to environmental and climate objectives, helping direct investment and financing toward sustainable activities and align Albania more closely with European Union standards. The draft covers the taxonomy’s general framework, technical screening criteria and related legislative adaptations. It follows the first draft and stakeholder consultation conducted earlier in 2026 under the European Investment Bank’s technical assistance program. Banks are expected increasingly to incorporate environmental and climate considerations into risk assessment, lending and product development, while businesses will need to adapt their operating models and technologies to emerging sustainability requirements.
