The Bank of Albania reported that Second Deputy Governor Natasha Ahmetaj and European Investment Bank Vice President Robert de Groot discussed expanding cooperation on sustainable finance, climate resilience and Albania’s transition toward a greener economy aligned with European Union standards. The two institutions confirmed their readiness to continue and broaden work supporting sustainable development and Albania’s EU integration, while Ahmetaj also presented the central bank’s latest assessment and outlook for the Albanian economy. The discussions build on their Green Financial Systems technical assistance program, which has produced the final draft of Albania’s National Green Taxonomy. The taxonomy is intended to direct financing toward sustainable economic activities and improve transparency for investors and financial institutions. Potential further cooperation would strengthen institutional capacity, integrate environmental and climate considerations into the financial sector and steer investment toward activities with positive environmental effects.
